Privacy Policy

Permission Guard is built around local control. This policy explains what the extension handles, where that information stays, and the limited situations in which data may leave your browser.

1. Overview

Permission Guard helps users understand, monitor and manage website and browser-extension permissions. The extension is designed to operate without accounts, advertising, analytics or telemetry.

2. Information Permission Guard processes

To provide its features, Permission Guard may process information such as:

  • The address and title of the website currently being reviewed.
  • Website permission states and permission-related activity, including camera, microphone, location, notifications, clipboard, fullscreen, pop-up and download activity when supported by the browser.
  • Rules and preferences you save for websites.
  • Information exposed by the browser about installed extensions, including their names, versions and requested permissions, when you use the Extension Auditor.
  • Locally generated security, audit and activity history used by Permission Guard.

3. Where data is stored

Permission Guard stores its settings, rules, audit information and activity history locally using browser-provided extension storage. Permission Guard does not require a cloud account for its core functionality.

Permission Guard does not sell browsing data, build advertising profiles, or use your permission history for targeted advertising.

4. Data transmission

Permission Guard is designed so that its core permission monitoring and management features do not send your browsing activity, permission history or saved site rules to an external server operated by us.

Normal browser behavior, websites you visit, the Chrome Web Store, your browser vendor, and services you independently use may transmit information under their own privacy policies. Permission Guard does not control those third-party services.

5. Browser permissions

Permission Guard requests browser permissions that are necessary to provide features such as site permission inspection, active-tab analysis, navigation and download awareness, local storage, and installed-extension auditing. These permissions are used to provide the functionality described in the product and are not used to sell or monetize user data.

6. Sensitive permissions

Permission Guard may detect or display whether a website has requested sensitive capabilities such as camera, microphone or location access. Permission Guard does not record the content of your camera feed, microphone audio, clipboard contents or physical location as part of its permission-management purpose.

7. Backups and exports

If you choose to export Permission Guard settings or history, the exported file is created for you to save or transfer manually. You are responsible for where you store or share exported files.

8. Data deletion

You can remove saved website records, activity history and rules from within Permission Guard. Uninstalling the extension will also remove extension-managed local data according to the browser's extension-storage behavior.

9. Children

Permission Guard is a general-purpose browser utility and is not directed specifically to children.

10. Changes to this policy

If Permission Guard's data practices materially change, this privacy policy will be updated to reflect those changes. The current version will remain available on this page.
